Thanks to my friend, A, I participated in my first Artwalk and Summerfest in Kirkland. My heat allergy has always prevented me from participating in outdoor shows before, but Seattle’s mild climate has made this dream possible!
My favorite part was talking to all the kind souls, especially the children. Their joyful responses to my art were so unrestrained and heartfelt, which completely surprised and thrilled me.
Several comments made my heart flutter–that my art would look good as wallpaper in a breakfast nook or as fabric. This kindness definitely inspired me to keep creating. And, to encourage other artists at art shows–it means so much!
Let me tell you, folks, Kirkland is where it is at. It is such a happening place with all sorts of diversity in age and ethnicity.
And, I witnessed my first flash mob right in front of my friend’s store. It was all I dreamed it would be! Thank you, A and Kirkland, for one of my favorite weekends ever!
